Of course the story isn't great. Halo's isn't either, but I had a blast plowing through that with friends. I plan to do the same. But there is also games like Bioshock where the story is amazing and the gameplay is great also.
I thought Halo had a pretty good universe. Maybe the story itself was kind of weak, but the universe is pretty complex if you read all the books.

I also never read any of the audio dairies. Was busy running from necromorphs. Those must of had a story I never uncovered. Also didn't watch downfall.
You can do both at the same time...

She's my favourite. Even though it was a bit too much for her I think, she didn't get all cranky about it.

This campaign is offensive. I'm a Mom of 5, a gamer, and I think Dead Space 2 is F*CKING AWESOME!!!! The moms they show do not represent me or other moms my age I know. I'm 45 and I f*cking love video games and I think that campaign was dreamed up by some fat f*cking guy who thinks moms can't do sh*t but yell at their kids. I love games and Dead Space 2 is brilliant!!!!!! I love Black Ops, Fallout, BioShock you name it. My kids think I'm pretty f*cking awesome, and I am! I'm not fat or ugly either so fellas don't try to bring me down because I could probably whip your asses at these games. The TV ad is offensive but it's the only way to market it to 18-25 year old males is to think their moms hate it, which of course you are wrong, but nothing I can do but laugh at the fat ugly moms. Oh and I'm conservative too. But hey, you ad guys can't win at everything, because you don't know sh*t about moms of today. Stick that in your XBOX hard drive and suck it!!!!

DEAD SPACE 2 F*CKING ROCKS! the ad sucks! Nuff said.

Yeah and this board is censoring my comments, but it's ok if you make fun of moms yeah that's fair.

Proud mom of 5!

You tell them Dragonheart65. My mom's the best too. When I was a kid we would sometimes stay up all night during summer vacation playing Ultima 4 and later 5 and 6. God I love her for that

I bet you developers know far more about mothers than the government or those who attempt to ban videogames do (take Jack Thompson for instance)

However I find it funny that half of the population is more mature than a "45 year old mother of 5" that speaks like a 13 year old boy shooting his mouth off on xbox live.

Pro-tip...if you want people to believe your story, at least "act" like the age you state.

I am 23 and yet I am not cursing like a sailor or resorting to stereotypes (stating you are "not fat or ugly either" etc.)

Granted there are some awesome mother's out there. My mother and father let me play violent video games and watch 18 movies when I was 11...at the same time I was allowed to drink alcohol but only in the house and when supervised. At 14 I was drinking publicly when I went around the local pubs with them and that was only because we knew the landlords.

In fact I remember playing Duke Nukem 3D for the first time back in 98/99. My mum isn't much of a FPS gamer and anything with more than 2 buttons she can't do but she would always give it a try...overall, gaming was also a big part of our lives and the way we bonded...something of which today's society has no idea about.

However all of those actions were done when supervised

As to the advert...it pokes at those that are against video game violence, not at the ones that aren't

Finally, I would tell you to grow up but sadly I think we are past that stage :-/

these are hilarious, and i think it would have been a great marketing move to put these on their site or advertise it as some bonus to their marketing campaign (i really do love the whole candid reactions concept), but to base the whole thing around your mom disliking a game is ridiculous and sort of backtracks all the work gaming industries with similarly violent games have been doing to get them recognized as art and quality story telling. not to mention, it really doesn't show any powerful point in the game (be it graphics, story, etc.) somewhat knowing the series, i expect it to be something i'd enjoy playing, but not be completely immersed in, or even know if i'm going to bother finishing.
comically enough, while i can't picture my mom playing dead space 2 willingly, she saw promotional material for it and immediately assumed i'd love it and tried to snag it for me. i can't picture her (or anyone's mom i've ever met, really) being shocked by it, either. in a world where everyone's attempting to have a sort of shock value (even decades ago) you grow up - regardless of age - desensitized. not to mention, if their games are advertised to those 17 or older, i can't fathom why they'd care if their target audience thinks their mom would dislike a game. the ads are merely for kids who are going to some how attempt to coax their mother (or father) into buying something that they likely already saw commercials for claiming that they'd hate.
2 thumbs!
