Back when it was first announced Dreamcast titles were coming to Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network, we couldn't help but get excited over the possibility of them hitting the PC as well. When asked, Sega told us, "While [we are] excited about future possibilities, right now, these games will appear on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network."
Then, six months later, a Dreamcast collection was confirmed, though with no real details. Today The Dreamcast Collection is officially announced, and happily, for both PC (digital download) and Xbox 360 (retail). For PC gamers, unfortunately three of the titles have previously been released on the platform, but a digital download is definitely convenient and more readily available. The surprise here is the debut English release of Space Channel 5: Part 2 (for 360 and PC gamers), alongside the others (Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, SEGA Bass Fishing).
As with the recent console digital releases, Sega assures enhanced graphics "for both platform versions", plus achievements and online leaderboards for the 360 version. Note as before, it appears the forced 4:3 aspect ratio is intact for Sonic Adventure. For Crazy Taxi, it's likely the classic soundtrack will again not be included (presumably for licensing reasons), though this should be relatively easy to recreate, especially on PC.
The pack will launch February 22 in North America and February 25 in Europe. PC gamers should be able to find the titles on GamersGate, and possibly Steam as well (as with the Genesis collections).
Now just for those Saturn ports.
