Guild Wars 2 behind-the-scenes video will make you love ArenaNet
Surprisingly humble beginnings, keeping that small studio feel
Trailers can be cool to watch, and occasionally, we learn a thing or two about some new game. The latest Guild Wars 2 video, however, isn't your typical game trailer, and I'm not just talking about the 15-minute runtime.
Plenty of Guild Wars players know absolutely squat about the development studio behind the MMO, so this behind-the-scenes retrospective should prove enlightening. Did you know, for instance, that ArenaNet was founded by former Blizzard developers? Okay, that might be common knowledge, but were you aware that their first "office" was in an apartment -- without air conditioning during a hot summer? Of course you didn't!
On October 2000, they settled in their first real office, and the rest, as they say, is history. Seriously, check out the video, but if you're impatient and would rather hear about the game, skip to the midway point.

...now I want it, oh so much.
It really makes a difference with the final product when the company behind it actually cares, like homemade chocolate chip cookies against grocery store plastic boxes.
P.S. The folks in the photo also seem to be hiding some homemade chocolate cookies underneath their desks, I presume
I'm probably going to roll a Human or Norn; depends what the other professions are once they're announced.
