The Need for Speed Hot Pursuit launch trailer on the official NFS YouTube channel didn't hit one million views today, but Criterion has decided to toss the challenge aside and release the free DLC anyway. Yeah, that is pretty awesome.
The original '1 Million Challenge' focused on getting that video up to a million views by yesterday, December 12, in order to unlock the 'Supercar Convertible' pack for free. The add-on includes the Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible, Lamborghini Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster and the Dodge Viper SRT10 Convertible Final Edition.
The launch, as of now, sits just above 660k views, but Criterion has already released the three free cars to console versions of Hot Pursuit. A PC update should be coming soon, according to the official blog. The team is, of course, very thankful for all the community support:
Oh, so close! The Need for Speed Hot Pursuit launch trailer didn’t quite make it to one million views, but our community still turned out an amazing performance. We'd like to thank you all for sharing the trailer with your friends and making sure that everybody knows that Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is the best, most intense (and VGA-winning!) racing game of the year. So, as an early holiday gift, we’ve decided to give the three convertibles for free to everyone playing Hot Pursuit.
The 'Super Sports' content pack, on the other hand, will still cost you $7 come December 21. If you want it, that is.
