Another fine entry in the beloved adventure series Broken Sword is getting some new love: The Smoking Mirror will see a "Remastered" edition hitting the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad "very shortly", and PCs and Macs in early 2011.
Much like with the previous re-release, this one will update the graphics and add a hint system. There's also improved music quality, an interactive digital comic, animated facial expressions, Dropbox integration (cross-platform saving), Game Center integration for Apple users (including achievements), and a diary, to name a few.
Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars - Director's Cut released last year on Wii and DS, and early this year on iOS devices. Some say the PC version was a port of the Wii version which resulted in a less than stellar experience despite its improvements, at least for huge fans of the original -- perhaps those being out of the mix this time will make for optimal results, though we're still not too keen on that hint system. At the very least, no mention is made of cut or added scenes and dialogue, which would likely be a good thing considering the previous outing.
Developer Revolution Software says they welcome comments positive and negative, so head to the source and send away if you've got something to say.
And while we've got you here, Good Old Games is currently running a weekend promo, selling the first three Broken Sword titles for 60% off, including the aforementioned Director's Cut. Hit up the alternate source if you're interested.
