Jacinto's Remnant filled in some of the gap between Gears of War 2 and 3, and the second in-between novel Anvil Gate is about to hit shelves and product pages. Come August 31, Gears fans can pick up where Remnant ended.
Between the second and third games, Jacinto was flooded by the humans so that the Locust would drown in the their own tunnels. Go figure, the guys can't swim. Still, as the non-Stranded try to establish a new home for themselves at an abandoned military base, grubs continue popping up here and there. Not exactly fun times for Delta Team.
Like its predecessors, Anvil Gate is penned by sci-fi writer Karen Traviss, a lady with a knack for writing about futuristic soldiers. If you keep up with Star Wars expanded universe stuff, then her name should sound familiar.
The third book boasts Marcus and Baird (unusual) un its cover, with the later in the foreground. That's right, Baird -- not Dom nor Cole Train. Think maybe Fenix got tired of Dom's whiny behavior?
Gears of War 3 will be tearing across North America next year, on April 5, 2011.
