Sony's Gamescom conference confirms that the PlayStation Move will at last be ready to launch this September 15th, bringing with it the new "wand" controller and navigation "sub" controller for use with the PlayStation Eye camera. Prices for the UK have also been announced; sold separately, the "wand" and sub controller will be priced at £34.99 and £24.99, respectively, while both can purchased at once with a PlayStation Eye camera and bonus disc for £49.99. With the Move ready to... move, Sony also looks to be launching new PS3 models to better leverage the hype.
Eagle-eyed shoppers will have spotted two new PS3 Slim SKUs, each boasting a beefier hard drive storage capacity than currently available PS3 Slim models. One model sporting a 160GB hard drive is already available for shipping at $299.99 USD.
The 120GB PS3 Slims currently retails for the same price, but it remains to be seen if Sony intends on phasing out the 120GB for the new 160GB Slim models. If anything else, we can certainly expect price drops for existing PS3 Slim models. Older, non-Slim PS3s have always been available with a 160GB hard drive, but it's nice to see the option back for the newer Slims.
The other PS3 Slim SKU will be a big one: starting September 19th, for $399.99 USD you will be able to grab yourself a new PS3 Slim with a 320GB hard drive, bundled with a (nearly) complete PS3 Move setup for one player. That means this new Move bundle includes the wand, PlayStation Eye camera, and a copy of Sports Champions; all that's really missing is the sub controller.
