This is how they deal with it

Recently, a glitch with Valve's Steam servers caused over 12,000 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players to be banned by accident. How does Valve apologize to them? With two free copies of Left 4 Dead 2.
Valve president Gabe Newell owed up to the problem by sending out e-mails explaining what happened and having every user affected get a copy of L4D2 for themselves and another to gift to a friend. The bans are now removed and everyone can continue fragging away.
Banning that many players is a surefire way to get a virtual mob going but Valve saves the day by saying sorry and throwing a little something their way. They're just being awesome as usual, that's all.

How long were they banned for? 2 free copies of the game almost seems too generous unless the ban was for more than a day or so.
I bet Gabe was sitting in his office, got on the PA system and said "Somebody gonna get a hurt reaaal bad".
AAA+ publicity stunt ftw, plus it's a nice anus cover.
Pure Awesome
I would also enjoy a free copy of this game....anyone....plz
Hardly a failure.
