The Last Story, the latest game designed by Hironobu Sakaguchi's Mistwalker studio, finally gets its first trailer after the game's official site updated earlier today. Aside from a handful of screenshots and developer blog entries from the father of Final Fantasy, those following The Last Story weren't quite sure on how the game would play like. That changes today:
From the trailer, we can see that The Last Story will make use of an action-based battle system that will feature a cover mechanic. The lines going from the various enemy units to the controlled player character represent the target lines from each enemy. This feature was described earlier by a developer's blog entry by Sakaguchi. Aside from the various dungeon and ruin settings, we also get a glimpse of one of the game's towns, with a nice Assassin's Creed touch when bumping into any of the people walking by.
The Last Story is due for a release in Japan later this year. Nintendo has not confirmed an international release at this time.
