If you thought the Final Fantasy XIII PS3 Slim looked cool but didn't like the game, Sony's prepared an alternative. A white PS3 Slim is on the way, slated for release in Japan at the end of July.
The new "Classic White" system comes with a matching controller and vertical stand, plus a generous 160GB hard drive. This particular setup will be priced at ¥29,980 or $341 USD. The 160GB HDD will also be attached to a "Charcoal Black" Slim, sold along with the 'torne' DVR peripheral for a grand total of ¥36,980 or $421.
Most tempting of all may be the 320GB HDD pack, which comes out to ¥34,980 or $398, around $60 more than the 160GB bundle (with no DVR).
Japan's new favorite day is July 29, and there's currently no date or mention of a Western release. Fiddlesticks.
