Icarus fights Medusa angels once again
Helping headline Nintendo's official 3DS announcement at its E3 2010 conference yesterday is the return of the classic Kid Icarus franchise to gaming through Kid Icarus: Uprising. One of the first titles to take advantage of the upcoming 3DS and its features, Uprising puts players back in control of the hotshot angel Pitt as he takes to both land and air to protect Angel Land against the underworld army of Medusa, Goddess of Darkness. Land's sake, the poor guy has to dodge frickin' laser beams.
We imagine you'd have to see the game with your own eyes to appreciate the planned stereoscopic 3D presentation. For now, this new batch of screens, plus the official E3 trailer, should give you an idea of how Kid Icarus will take flight on the new handheld. Pitt's return comes with his Super Smash Bros. Brawl makeover, and the trailer shows he'll have a speaking role this time, as does the goddess Palutena who helpfully explains that Pitt's Miracle of Flight is limited by time. I guess that's what Pitt gets for being blessed by a benevolent goddess as opposed to being branded by some angry, post-modern interpretation of some demon from the Goetia or something.
Stick around long enough and you'll find that another Kid Icarus veteran makes his comeback in the new 3DS game!
