Oblivion total conversion mod "Nehrim" finally hits completion
English version on the way
The biggest thing since "Obscura's Oblivion Overhaul" it looks like, German total conversion mod Nehrim: At Fate's Edge may well be about to make its own name as a classic RPG. For those not familiar with total conversion mod, it's essentially a PC game based on another PC game's engine -- Counter-Strike as based on Half-Life is likely the most famous example.
Nehrim comes to us from SureAI, the group behind the Morrowind total conversions Arktwend and Myar Aranath and also the Fallout 3 mod "Cube Experimental." They say their game is built for players who love RPGs and were dissapointed with Oblivion in that respect -- Nehrim is a "a role playing game with elements of action, [not an] action game with elements of role playing games."
This mod is massive in scope and was developed over a period of four years -- as long as Oblivion itself took. Here's the full rundown, cause everybody likes numbers:
555840 objects in 9622 loading areas (levels) and is inhabited by 1285 non-player characters, some of them friendly, others hostile.. 1616 scripts take care of offering the players enough variety in the 35-part main quest as well as in the about 30 side quests. In the German version, you can hear 56 professional voice actors, while the nearly 50 new and self-composed pieces of music can be enjoyed internationally. On top of that, there are a lot of new weapons, armours and spells. Referring to the testers, the game can hold you busy for about 40-50 hours.
The German version will be released tomorrow, with an English version on the way. We'll be sure to keep you posted.

I still have to beat the main game again though since I lost my data when I built my rig. I just beat Kvatch again when I got absorbed with other stuff.
