Hip-Hop is a genre easily overlooked and dominated by dance and rock music found in rhythm games nowadays. Def Jam Rapstar will open things up to hip-hop vocalists to give them an opportunity to try their hand with their rapping skills.
Rapstar will feature 40 popular hip-hop tunes for you to sound off with while those with some creative wordage can make up their own ditty in the game's Freestyle Mode and make use of some pre-made instrumentals. If you've got a camera on hand, you'll also be able to upload your performance to the Def Jam Rapstar community. Here's a small sample of the song list you'll find in Rapstar:
- Just a Friend - Biz Markie
- Best I Ever Had - Drake
- So Fresh, So Clean - Outkast
- They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.) - Pete Rock and CL Smooth
- Push It - Salt-N-Pepa
- Number 1 - Tinchy Stryder feat. N-Dubz (UK exclusive)
- JJ's Beat - DJ Premier
- On the One - Just Blaze
Def Jam Rapstar will be available October 5 in Europe and November 6 in the US. The PS3 and 360 bundle (includes a wired microphone) is worth $69.99 while the Wii package has a going price of $59.99; pricing details for the European bundles will come at a later time.
