First it was shadow dragons, and now emblem mysteries will be reborn on the DS
Console-maker Nintendo co., Ltd. has announced a new remake from developer Intelligent Systems' Fire Emblem series today for the Nintendo DS through their Fire Emblem World website. Unveiled through a short teaser video, Fire Emblem: Shin Monshou no Nazo ~Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu~ (literally Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem ~Hero of Light and Shadow~) will be the latest installment in the strategy role-playing game series and the second remake for the Nintendo DS. The first Fire Emblem title saw a remake last year in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon.

Judging by its title, Shin Monshou no Nazo will be a remake of the series' first Super Famicom game, Fire Emblem: Monshou no Nazo. The game is split up into two parts: Books One and Two. Book One is a remake of Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryu to Hikari no Tsurugi, the first game in the series which was already remade as Shadow Dragon. Book Two is a continuation of the story from Book One, again starring original protagonist and Super Smash Bros. combatant Marth.
Other than the video which can be seen at Nintendo's Fire Emblem portal Fire Emblem World, no other information is available. Release dates and whether or not both Books will remain intact in Shin Monshou no Nazo are still unknown.

No. It's not like HG/SS at all. The difference is that the fans clamoured for Heart Gold and Soul Silver, and Game Freak took the time to bring a game that has aged well up to the standards of the latest Pokemon games.
Shadow Dragon, however, was giving a game that has aged terribly new graphics and a halfassed attempt at bringing it up to today's standards with badly implemented gimmicks that a large amount of the fans hated.
If Intelligent Systems actually want to learn from what went wrong with Shadow Dragon, then this might turn out okay. As it is, however, I'm going to maintain that Shadow Dragon never should've happened as a game on it's own. We should have had a Mystery of the Emblem remake from the start, not essentially releasing Shadow Dragon and then two/three years later releasing Shadow Dragon again with the second half of the game.
I hoped to see a nice announcement at E3, for FE's serie, now i really think we won't get any new FE...i am disappointed
Even though I've only played RD and SD, I feel it's interesting to see more of the Fire Emblem "Classic Days", when the series was developing into what people have seen since a decade ago. I'm kinda surprised they didn't include Gaiden's remake in this yet, though I can see why.
You could say that between these remakes, that they're developing something even more amazing; they're just giving us a couple of games to make sure we stay sharp and on our toes. 8D The next new one will be amazing, no doubt. (Given the world doesn't end/ Nintendo/IS doesn't go bankrupt. lol)
