Remember Dead Rising with Frank West? Pretty good game, right? Apparently, that zombie-fest in the midwest "felt too Japanese" for producer Shinsaku Ohara.
Ohara explains that he wanted a more Western feel for the sequel, which is why Capcom's got Blue Castle on development duty. The first Dead Rising was done in Japan, thus the game itself wasn't Western enough:
"The first Dead Rising was built in a very Japanese style. We had some help from America, but basically it was all done in a Japan. We wanted to do it better for a Western audience this time.
"That's why we're working with Blue Castle now. They know what they like - and it's good to have them come up with ideas and it becomes a back and forth thing.
"Together, we've come up with crazier ideas than we did in the first game. What we didn't quite manage in Dead Rising 1 was that it still felt too Japanese. We're much closer to feeling like a Western game with this title."
What does all this mean? We're assuming Chuck Green will be five times the man Frank West was, if any video game could contain such an incredible level of manliness. I mean, how many people can say they've plowed through zombies on a homemade wheelchair-gunship-of-death?
Dead Rising 2 should be out August 31 in North America, then September for Europe. No more delays, thanks.
