After the announcement of Super Street Fighter IV, we'd assumed similar to EA and its approach with The Sims series, we could expect plenty more where that came from. Capcom says not so, as they won't be continuing the "IV" subseries after Super's release.
"I have no intention of carrying on Street Fighter IV into Hyper Street Fighter IV or Ultra Street Fighter IV," Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono said to OXM, "Because I'm aware of the mistakes Capcom has made in the past. So whether it would be a different IP or another Street Fighter, we'd like to keep options open. But in terms of Street Fighter IV, this is definitive...Super Street Fighter IV should be the distinctive end."
Nevertheless, unlike with the original game, he's citing DLC as an "obvious" possibility for Super which could contain tuning and balancing updates, and possibly be released next year.
