Manga Entertainment UK licenses Professor Layton film
DVD/Blu-Ray release this September in the UK
It's widely known that movies based on video games have an unfortunate streak of being just outright bad or not all that successful. But things are different in Japan where last year's release of Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva proved to be a success with developer Level-5 heading the film and using the original voice actors. Japanese animation licensor and distributor Manga Entertainment UK announced today they will be bringing the puzzling feature for release in the United Kingdom.
Details known so far is the film will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray this September. Eternal Diva will be dubbed into English and may be retitled for its UK release. No word yet on who will be providing the English voices or on a possible release in the United States.
Eternal Diva is a completely original entry in the Professor Layton series that takes place before Mask of Miracles and after Specter's Flute. Level-5 has expressed an interest to release a new film every winter and a live action version is in the works as well.

Luckily for me, I love the games and I found the movie a delight! Still waiting on the DvD release here in Japan. =/ The opening 5 mins of the movie is set in the present and you'll see Luke & Layton inside Big Ben solving a puzzle + Don Paulo <3 makes an appearance too! Rest of the movie is Layton recalling a previous mystery.
I'd give it 8/10 as a Layton fan!
Then, upon further inspection... "No word yet on... a possible release in the United States."
