Western Digital is cooking up a new course of VelociRaptor hard drives for your consumption. They will likely most touch down soon -- within a couple of months.
As you can see they, have large mounting frame heatinks, around a 2.5-inch form factor drive. Like other VelociRaptors, these drives run at 10,000RPM, have a 32MB of cache, and a sustained transfer speed of 145 MB/s.
These drives are meant to last a long time, with a 1.4 million hour average time between failures (MTBF), helped along by NoTouch ramp load technology and Pre-emptive Wear Leveling, which effectively extends drive life spans.
These new VelociRaptors performance hard drives -- which are undoubtly loosing market share steadily to expanding SSD product line-ups -- will come in 150GB, 300GB, 450GB, and 600GB capacities.
