You've met all the races available in the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV and now it's time to see where they stand. New information translated from Famitsu magazine gives a more in-depth look at the inhabitants of Eorzea. Consider their strengths and weaknesses to help you decide on who you'd like to brave against the perils headed your way.
Hyurans resemble humans and are your "jack of all trades, master of none" race. Midlanders make up the majority of the Hyuran and have significantly higher levels of intelligence due to reading books at a young age. Highlanders are big and muscular compared to other Hyurans but only the males are seen often.
Lalafell are dwarf-sized but very powerful magic users. Plainsfolk live in thatch roof houses that are connected underground and their big ears are sensitive enough to hear moles. Dunesfolk are nomadic tribes that frequently move in deserts and value beads that predict their fate on their foreheads.
The Miqo'te catgirls are very agile and serve well as thieves. The tribe of the Seekers of the Sun are active during the daytime and have large pale irises in their eyes. Keepers of the Moon are nocturnal Miqo'te that wear battle makeup. You probably shouldn't ask them to see if you could rub behind their fluffy ears.
Elezen are tall elves with natural skills. Forester Elezen have keen eyes that make them great archers and you'll find them living out in the plains or in cities. The Shaders have the natural advantage of acute hearing which make them good martial artists. Some Shaders consider the Foresters to be traitors.
Roegadyn are the big grunts of the group that are physically powerful. The Seewolf tribesmen were once revered as fierce pirates; nowadays you'll still find some employed as sailors or serving the navy. Lohengarde Roegadyn live near volcanoes and have a natural resistance to fire but they also have some decent magic strength.
The Japanese FFXIV website has also updated with music featuring a new arrangement of the Final Fantasy theme. Give it a listen while deciding on the tribe of your choice and hit up the gallery below for additional images.
