March has been a pretty big month in terms of Nintendo releases so this week's goods chill out with some casual games. Still some items of note with the latest Virtual Console offering a little-seen RPG from Nintendo 64 and an addition for WarioWare D.I.Y. players who also happen to own a Wii.
Ogre Battle 64 puts you in charge of Magnus Gallant, a young military captain on a mission to liberate his country. As the fight continues on, a far more devious plot is discovered from a deadly force. Customize and position your forces for battle and depending on how you play, you'll end up with one of the game's six endings. Add one of the few RPGs released on the Nintendo 64 to your Virtual Console collection for 1,000 Wii Points.
Over on WiiWare, WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase is an extension for the recently released WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase comes preloaded with a couple of microgames, music, and comics but its biggest feature is letting you play your custom microgames on the Wii. You can also receive content from friends or download from Nintendo's servers. Bring your creations to the big screen for 800 Wii Points.
Diner Dash is a port of the popular PC game where you must manage your diner by tending to the needs of customers. Fans can go head-to-head with six other players in online matches and opt to use more a traditional point-and-click control scheme. Be your own diner entrepreneur for 1,000 Wii Points.
A couple of interesting music-related apps are available on DSiWare. Nintendo DSi Metronome is a tool to help keep tempo while playing an instrument. Adjust your settings, choose a favorite theme, and record your own personal sounds for the metronome to use. This also comes with Donkey Kong Metronome where you must make sounds to match a beat so Mario can jump over barrels. This will cost you 200 DSi Points.
Supplementing the metronome is Nintendo DSi Instrument Tuner, an app to tune instruments. You can do this in two ways: feed sounds into the microphone to match a target pitch or just listening to sample tones. A Tuner Fight minigame challenges you to pop balloons by matching displayed pitches. Like the metronome app, this too will cost 200 DSi Points to download.
Disney Fireworks brings all the pretty pyrotecnics by flicking rockets to matching colors in the sky. The five themed worlds included have 15 stages to go through and you'll be lighting things up with familiar Disney tunes. For 800 DSi Points, you can't go wrong with that combination.
Save the Turtles tasks you with unearthing turtle eggs and lining up the newly hatched young away from danger as they crawl their way to safety. 500 DSi Points nets you four modes, different beach environments, and unlockable trophies.
The delicious-sounding Super Yum Yum Puzzle Adventures stars a chameleon who changes color upon eating food. Plan out his diet wisely as the correct color is needed to reach food in places that are out of reach. This delectable puzzler can be had for 800 DSi Points.
