They're seriously taking the stance of "lets try to make this useless intrusive game wrecking DRM a bit less game-wrecking"? Pirate versions just work. Can you be part of the online score? Probably not, but the game works. Done and done. No one should pay for software that works better when pirated.

The game itself sucks hard... for real... but, there is a "server emulator" for solo play, from the first day...

This is why it's better to use a "clean" pirated version of the game than buying the game. Also, EA (and other developers/publishers) are pretty much discriminating against people that can not afford a high speed internet connection or those that still can not get high speed internet since it's not offered in their area. For those people, they have no choice but to pirate it.

I do not believe that this quote is true. otherwise they would not be tightening the chains with each new title.
"EA as a whole has been a very reasonable company with its DRM, so here's hoping the higher-ups get on it and provide a smoother play experience."

I would love to play the new C&C game, I've played many of the previous versions and my machine is always online.

I will not be buying the game until it has a less ridiculous DRM scheme.

EA makes some wonderful products, I really hope that they fix their philosophy on this one.

I refuse to pirate software though so, I guess I don't get to play it at all.

Thanks EA for punishing your loyal fans!

Definitely won't be buying this, despite buying every other C&C game. I haven't even bought SPORE yet due to the DRM stories that were floating around when that launched.

I also wish EA would realize... if we buy 10 games with 10 different DRM systems that add "hooks" and "background processes" to a PC, that's a lot of extra crap bogging down the system and potentially causing problems.

This is why, with 25 years of PC experience, fixing PCs for a living all day, with a well capable gaming PC I use for any and every kind of information going in or out of it... I game on consoles. FOR NOW, their restrictions have been pretty traditional and reasonable for the most part.

Article states DAO is DRM free. Dragon Age has DRM... must have the CD in the drive to play.

@Umm "...have no choice but to pirate it." Really? Games aren't essential. So no you have choices, with one of them being not buying the game/not stealing.

The lengths that people try to justify piracy is amazing. Instead of making it worse by pirating more, why not do something that's actually effective like mugging the every member of the EA staff.

@lolwut: I personally buy the games, then i download the cracks to clean up the DRM crap... so I DO support the company, just not the stupid DRM crap that assumes I am a criminal.

"or you could just call your dsl provider and ask them to fix your DSL..."
Or how about they do not put in a DRM that is beyond words constraining. The online DRM check fails even when your connection is getting a bit interrupted (see: other users using network as well). Just getting the best provider will not work for this one cause as soon as your connection drops a bit too low for their servers or there was a tiny interrupting as your fellow housing people are using ze internetz as well *boom* your out.

What an incredibly stupid waste of time and money! I bought C&C 4 today. I installed it, played it about two hours, then broke the CD into pieces and threw it in the garbage. EA games has conned me out of the last dollar they will ever get out of me. I loved the C&C series of games. It used to be my second life outside of work. My daughter and wife could even imitate the voices of all of the main characters. We used to quote C&C characters around the house. What in the hell is this piece of feces they are trying to pass off as C&C? It looks like a retarded third grader did the graphics. Couldn't EA games find anybody with a high school education to work on their crap game? And the garbage needs to be connected to the internet all of the time. I used to play C&C in the airport on my laptop, while I waited. How do I do that now? I don't. F U, EA Games!

I'm buying C&C 4, and then i will pirate it straight away so that it works. EA is only ruining the game for the most honest people out there.
