There's been no word on Disciples III: Renaissance -- the next TBS RPG series installment -- for ages, until now. Publisher Kalypso Media (Tropico) has signed on to bring the PC game to North America, Western Europe and the Asia Pacific.
For series fans, it's undoubtedly disappointing to know a new developer is on board for this one -- Akella, not Strategy First. Akella has plenty of experience, albeit mostly with a ton of titles we've never heard of like Sea Dogs and Age of Pirates, which have seen mixed reception. Nevertheless, Kalypso says Disciples III is a "perfect fit with [its] portfolio of top-quality strategy games," while Akella affirms it's good for the job:
“Everyone [here] has a deep respect and love for the Disciples brand,” said Dmitry Arkhipov, Vice-President of Development at Akella. “Our team is dedicated and passionate about ensuring that Disciples III: Renaissance takes the franchise further by providing fans more dynamic gameplay and deeper strategies in an incredibly atmospheric and rich 3D world.”
We'll see when Disciples III launches this summer.
