Final Fantasy XI? Still running comfortably and plenty of life in it, apparently. Square Enix's VanaFest 2010 revealed the loads of new content on the way this year for the eight year-old MMO.
The most significant update comes in the form of three upcoming expansions: Vision of Abyssea, Heroes of Abyssea, and Scars of Abyssea. Not much is known about the expansions but it is a "battle-oriented" series of updates introducing new monsters and receiving rewards with the littlest of fuss. Most likely that'll turn out to be "curbstomp baddie, receive shiny."
There are tons of other changes on the way, such as raising the level cap to 99, various job adjustments, Odin and Alexander as new summons, and culmination of the Wings of the Goddess storyline. Additionally, loyal FFXI players have been chosen to participate in a closed alpha test of Final Fantasy XIV with further information coming their way tomorrow. Check out the source link for every detail that has come out of the festival.
