Twittering that you are leaving home might be a bad idea?
A website that satirically helps you plan when to rob someone, PleaseRobeMe.com, has been launched. The idea behind the site is to attract attention to the pitfalls of social networking sites, like Facebook and Twitter. Although it is satire, the scary part is that, yeah, you actually could use this website to help plan a robbery.
The question posed by the website's author is simple: maybe it is not a good idea to update all of your actions on your Twitter, Facebook, or Neoseeker activity feed.
The information collected on pleaserobme.com is all gathered from some simple Twitter searches.
Privacy should be the concern of everyone who uses social networking sites. And as the website shows, privacy should be even a greater concern for folks who live alone -- basically, you are broadcasting when the best time it is for you to be robbed.
Thieves might have never had it easier.
Until cheap cyborg guard dogs with laser beam eyes become available, you might want to be cogent of how unprotected your home is, when it is empty. Hats off to the author of PleaseRobeMe.com for bringing this important point to our attention.

If it wasn't for the fact that foursquare posted in your tweet their URL "4sq.com", pleaserobme.com wouldn't be as intrusive as it currently is. It'd actually be pretty impossible to get the quality/amount of posts that it currently gets.
While yes, you can search for patterns to get information like this, both social networking sites offer privacy features so that only your 'friends' can see posts you make.
