The North American arm of D3Publisher confirms it will be bringing Namco Bandai's God Eater to our shores sometime this third calendar quarter. God Eater is an online multiplayer action RPG developed by Shift (Ape Escape Academy) for the PlayStation Portable, where players assume the role of streetwise youth with fantastic anime hair dubbed "God Eaters".
Create your own God Eater, then utilize their "Jinki" weapons in an effort to save a "desolate post-apocalyptic world" from mutant beasts known as the Aragami. Players can also tap into the power of their Jinki and transform into beasts themselves for that extra special boost in battle.
God Eater has drawn comparisons to Capcom's hugely popular Monster Hunter series thanks to its mission-based gameplay involving battles against signature creatures which players can loot new items from in order to customize equipment and weapons. Like the PSP Monster Hunter titles, God Eater supports local co-op for up to four players through wireless adhoc. By connecting their PSPs to PS3 consoles, players can also team up with others online. God Eater launched in Japan earlier this month, and by Media Create's reckoning was the top selling game for the week ending February 7th.
