I've come to enjoy my 650W PSU from these guys over the years, it's 80plus certified but it also was rated on the RMS like these units instead of the peak power output that everyone else uses. Nice to see CM playing it on real ratings.

A good 750W is adequate for most dual card systems.

If you want the classic rating system then go by the chart included noting the Peak power is 900W. Easy fix for ya.

Try reading some of the charts. [Corsair] They claim 1000W but only at peak power, never disclosing the RMS level of the power supply.

What I meant was, that you'd think they started with 750W and then went up from there, as a gamer probably would start off with 700W.

Yeah, as Vegi was saying, that's just that CM uses a more accurate metric to measure wattage. Some companies might have a 900W PSU that doesn't put out as much steady power on the +12V rail as does this CM 650W GX one does. AT least that is my impression of the product, without actually having had tested here at the labs.

Heres the difference between quality and NON quality psus. A QUALITY unit will be measured by its continuous power output, which a cheap no name non quality psu will be rated by its PEAK output, which it can generally only sustain for a few minutes max. This is what led to everyone assuming you need a 1000w psu for any sort of gaming system. I was running a phenom II with 2 4830s in crossfire with no issues using a 600w ocz stealthxstream. Now im running a 4870x2 using an antec TP-750. Sure if you went out and got a no name or cheap name like rosewill, youll want something rated higher than that because it wont actually output the rated power.

You summed that up quite nicely, you could also swap a few things around in that and make it apply to the early PC audio days with 2.0 speaker systems that claimed 1000W but actually produced about 2.5w rms.
