Ubisoft to take focus off licensed games
Low Avatar sales spark a shift
Though Avatar has made records at the cinema, Ubisoft's video game adaptation hasn't done so well, despite fair critical reception. As a result, the publisher says it's going to invest less in licensed property in the future.
“The goal is to reduce [that], and put more emphasis on making our brands bigger and to release them more often, with very high quality,” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot told investors. “It doesn't mean we will stop, but we are going to spend less on licenses in the future.”
Part of the problem with Avatar, Guillemot says, was the film's December release. This put the studio in a tough spot with the game, one he alluded resulted in a lack of polish.
“The pressure of the release of the movie is always difficult in our industry, so I would say our goal in the future is to make sure we can have those games ready a long time in advance.”

That doesn't make a *bleep*ing sense.
-Reduce money
-Release more often
-Very high quality
-expect a bigger brand
Now tell me if it's possible to connect these 4 points into a conclusion that he thinks that way the games would be better, what an asshole.
UBISOFT is not how it was , calls him self "we make on time AAA games", bullshit AAA , HAWX could be a lot better but it isn't cause it lacks of support and polishing , the campaign is short too. It could be a superior air combat game that i love ,but it doesn't have that feel , and they say to it an "AAA" game. this is just BS ; EA at least admits it has crap games , but this is just ridicolous.
That's what's wrong with companies that think a single licenced game of super successed film is about to sell as much as it , it's NOT going to , 90% of who watched the film aren't even gamers , and for the record , who the heck would buy a game from the film , it's nice , but it has to be A GAME that you make a MOVIE from. UBISOFT just makes good quality games cause they pump funds into them , but the basics are still the same , corporate idiotism, non-experienced decisionmakers and capitalist business guys alike. Look, why the heck spiderman and batman games sell so much ... just pumping funds into the game and think it's going to be a super succes is just pointless and that's what ubisoft did and does a lot of times. It's a movie adaption that's why , and now they're going to invest less to ALL licenced games they do , that doesn't mean only movie based games btw
My guess why some people don't play movie based games? The plot. In almost all other games you unveil the full story as you play, which adds mystique and a level of reward for getting far into a game. With a movie based game the general plot is well known, there's nothing to drive curiosity. That's how it is for me anyway. It doesn't help that they have to release the game on schedule with the movie, so there's no room for error and polish if things go wrong.
Why im saying this ,cause I love air combat games , i wish HAWX would be like it sice there wasn't a game in this genre for many years
