Last year's "bullet hell strategy RPG" Knights in the Nightmare was one of the crazier games we can think of in recent times. With far more depth and action than most could expect out of the DS, it was something of a sleeper hit.
Atlus is at it again, bringing the game to Sony's PSP, albeit only for Japan at this point. Though PSP players are known for being shafted on Sting ports, the publisher appears to be putting good effort behind this one (trusty old Atlus): the graphics will be updated and refined (see first screens below), a new opening anime cutscene will be included, "talk collection" mode will be added for tracing back over conversations, and a tutorial mission mode should help new players better get used to the steep learning curve. On a sidenote, the stylus will be swapped with the analogue pad for controls.
Knights in the Nightmare will launch April 22 in Japan. We'll be sure to have the word for you right away should it be announced for North America or Europe.
