Developer and publisher Arc System Works is pretty cool in our books. In light of the upcoming Euro release of the 2D anime-styled fighter BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, the studio decided to bring the fans in for a little collaboration, hosting a box art contest on popular gaming forum NeoGAF.
After a large round of submissions, fans voted on ten finalists from which ASW chose the winner (pictured at top left, here), working with the artist "radiantdreamer" to achieve the final look. On the right is the original work, which if you ask us is far better. "rd" writes:
When I first entered the contest, I was really hoping for top 10, and there were some great contenders, I was worried!
I didn't think that I would be so many people's first choice. Thank you all so much for your support!
I'm overwhelmed with excitement and happiness!
Congratz to everyone that worked so hard, and to those that made it into the finals!
In any case, we've decided to highlight a few favourites from the full set, which you can see below. Note all finalists will have their work featured in an included art book.
European fans -- as well as those residing elsewhere who really want that lovely art -- can grab the game this March.
