Surprisingly enough, EA's Dante's Inferno promotion might encourage gamers to read quality literature. Their most recent move is partnering with Random House to publish a special edition of Inferno, the first cantica (chapter) in Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy.
We're not sure what fraction of the gaming community can appreciate the epic poem in its original glory, but EA is prepared to throw in some incentives. While not the poem in its entirety, EA's Inferno comes with commentary by the game's producer, Jonathan Knight, and a 16-page insert showing how Visceral transformed the characters and locations into what we see in-game.
The bundle will be hitting bookstores on January 19, or next Tuesday. If nothing else, you could say EA and Visceral are making a great effort to advocate history and literature (with substance) along with Dante's Inferno.
