Vigil Games and publisher THQ released a new trailer celebrating Darksiders: Wrath of War hitting shelves today. Not surprisingly, it's got fire, demons, angels, and War. You'll find all that after the break.
Perhaps more interesting than the launch trailer is news that developer Vigil will not be releasing any DLC for Darksiders. It's unusual, since post-release add-ons have proven successful for companies (usually).
Vigil creative lead Joe Madureira broke the news during a recent interview, stating quite plainly that they're not working on aly DLC. He also took some time to explain why the studio avoided multiplayer:
"We realised early on that we wouldn't be able to pull off the scope of game we wanted to and have it be multiplayer. We were a new team building new tech and a new IP. We had our work cut out for us.
"Vigil has a very strong all-or-nothing mentality, and if we're not confident we can pull it off, we're not doing it. So we focused on making the most kick-ass single-player game possible."
Madureira notes that video game stories "stink," especially compared to comic books, his former medium of choice; however, he admitted that designing games is "much, much, much harder." And now that Darksiders is finished, he's hoping over to the Warhammer 40k universe.
