Today publisher Atlus have announced the newest instalment to the Metal Slug series, this time for the PlayStation Portable. Titled Metal Slug XX, the game struts the same formula it has since its glory days, though SNK are hoping the mild nostalgia will entice PSP gamers.
A classic cast of Metal Slug characters return; antagonist General Morden is even stronger after being rescued from defeat by a force known as the Mars People. Players will be able to assume the roles of Marco, Tarm, Fio, Eri, Ralf and Clark as well as a special downloadable character, Leona, available from the PlayStation Store at only $0.99.
In terms of content, Metal Slug XX is packing seven campaign missions alongside a Combat School mode harbouring 70 additional tasks. With many of the levels branching off into several paths, the game promises to be a new experience each time you pick it up, and if that isn't enough, ad hoc support (local online play) for two players is also included.
Metal Slug XX will be available exclusively on the PlayStation Portable as of February 23 for $19.99.
