Some info was leaked on the upcoming DLC for the FPS-ARPG PC-PS3-Xbox360 Borderlands a few moments ago.
The information was up for only moments on the site Fraglands.net, then was taken down really quickly -- a sure sign that it's the real deal, besides the one screenshot above.
The DLC will be available for the Xbox version on December 29th (800 MS points), and for the PS3 on January 7th ($10 bucks). The PC version of course gets the shaft and they don't have a release date planned -- they'll just get around to it 'whenevers', like the first DLC, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned.
The new DLC's full name will be Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, and there will be three new Riot Arenas to go with this theme. Finally, new storage spaces for stashin' gear will be put into the game finally, which is cool, as it a loot-trading game and all, and this feature was really missed in the initial release.
The "Mad Moxxi" is an obvious tip-off to Mad Max. Specifically Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. Which isn't a surprise -- Borderlands is sort of a big amalgamation of ideas taken from other post-nuclear war stories. Even down to the alternate-timeline '50's style Fallout-esque animations that start the game off.
The future looks bright for Borderlands: if the game remains popular, Gearbox will no doubt be pumping out the DLC, and in about a year's time or so, we could have a real good game on our hands. (Not to say that the game isn't really good already -- but just hey, with all that extra content and new features, it'll really turn into something even better.)
Our condolences go out to Fraglands.net for breaking their NDA. Hey Gearbox we don't bring NDA's, you should get in contact with us guys.
Update: Also it seems that if you complete all the Mad Moxxi DLC quests, you'll be rewarded with two additional skill points to your character.
