Boring! Obvious mediocrity is obvious. I'll wait for a game that can make these records without praying on the heartstrings of consumer ignorance. (And doesn't have a 2 hour campaign).

I agree that the game is highly overrated but I found the campaign to be outstanding. Took at least 6 hours on veteran for me.

And people wonder why hardcore gaming is dying. Why should companies bother to spend upwards of 5 years in development making interactive pieces of art that sell in the millions, when they can spend 9 months in development making slight tweaks to a rehashed shooter system and make just as much money?

...*sigh*

You mean 6 hours on single player mode??? I think the first game took me around 5 hours to finish on solo mode...it's kind of short game for people who don't play on-line...

I haven't played COD 2 yet, but I think the single player campaign should be longer than the first one which is extremely short for me....

Overall, the online mode will keep COD 2 fans busy until the end of time...

Who didn't see this coming? Though, I must say, yeah the game wasn't rebuilt form the ground up, but they did take a winning formula from COD4, and tweaked it, fixed issues the fans brought up, and improved in several other aspects. Yes, not totally new game, but they did a helluva job polishing and improving the experience from the first one. And this game is anything but Mediocre. As shooters go, this game is GREAT. It's simple, but very very effective.

The only games where tweaking and re-releasing is good is in sandbox games, because the player decides what should happen. Modern warfare 2 is most definitely not this kind of game. To add to this, I pretty much discount every reviewer that gives a game 100%, as this means that the game is perfect and there isn't a way to improve it. This is of course, impossible.

you could always improve a game. its called new hardware. the software can only be 100% with the current hardware but once a new and improved platform is released or a new engine is released the bar is raised and a game has a new potential. and only then if they do make a sequel to a game @ 100% the second game would only suffer due to lack of innovation.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 my friend

Kudos to IW btw, I mean even though they ripped out the many hearts of PC gamers, they have still been able to sell many copies of MW2, however this makes me worry, not because it is CoD or anything like that but because IW and other companies may look upon this and may think "Hmmm this works, let's use this as a business model"...well you can figure out why that is worrying :-/
