For all you Brutal Legend players out there, you'll be able to rock and slash your way on new grounds as EA and Double Fine Productions have announced the first batch of DLC for the game, the Tears of the Hextadon map pack.
The pack features two multiplayer maps: the Circle of Tears, a circular battleground surrounded by harsh waters, and Death's Fjord, a mountain pass with fans waiting to be captured at the map's lowest point but leaves players wide open to attack. As a bonus for downloading the Tears of the Hextadon, you will also receive the Blade of Ormagöden weapon.
Those who own a copy of the PlayStation 3 version of the game can take advantage of downloading the map pack for free for a limited time starting from November 5 to November 19. After that, they'll have to plunk down $4.99 to purchase the maps. Xbox 360 owners, you can grab the pack on November 3 but you'll have to put up 400 Microsoft Points from day one.
So what's with the odd names? Brutal Legend creator Tim Schafer shares the story:
"I play Brütal Legend online every night. And I need more maps! Circle of Tears is named after the crying of my vanquished foes on the battlefield, and Death's Fjord is obviously a tribute to my Nordic ancestors, and their love of fan geysers and... Well, actually I just thought the name was cool. See you online!"
