Toss violent games in the trash, win a signed soccer jersey

German group urges gamers to trash

German advocacy group Aktionsbündnis Amoklauf Winnenden -- or "Action Alliance," roughly translated -- is on a mission to banish violent games from Germany by rewarding gamers who toss their "killer games."

On Saturday, October 17, an event is being held in front of the Struttgart State Opera, during which gamers can participate by "donating" the violent games they own.  No idea what the group plans to do with these contributions, but an individual will win a signed soccer jersey from the German national soccer team.  Event promotional materials used the above image of a figure tossing a CD or DVD, derived from a similar propagandistic image urging Germans to ditch the swastika.

Numerous members of the Alliance are parents who've lost children during the tragic Winnenden shooting, when 17-year-old Tim Kretschmar went on a killing spree with his father's gun.  The incident has since sparked numerous anti-video game campaigns in Germany.

If they didn't want their games, why would they have bought them in the first place? poor logic... I suppose in the odd case that someone happens to like soccer a lot more than video games, then go for it. In the end, don't expect to make much of an impact.

Why don't they ban Shakespeare while their at it? There is far more sex and murder and war in many of the plays of Shakespeare than there is in most games.

Oh I know why they don't --- because Shakespeare doesn't make an easy scapegoat to pin the ails of society upon.

I just don't understand the reasoning of some of these anti-videogame groups.

I don't believe they've even tried to explain.

Paintball and laser tag guns / games were banned because they "simulate killing." Gun laws have been tightened.

I am a father and I try to teach my daughter about life I watch violent anime shows whit her but I explain to her that is all make believe and you cant do that in real life without consequences

Parents who blame video games or music only do it to hide there shame so they can walk around telling people well it wasn’t my fault

But you now what yes it is if you keep guns at your home and you don’t make sure they are locked and protected from children its your fault if your child has anger problems or acts erratic and you don’t talk to them or get help for them yes its your fault

Taking a gun and going out to shoot people is not something that you just wake up and decide to do

Don’t take the easy road by blaming something else because doing so makes me believe you failed as a parent if you cannot take

Video games are not responsible for bad behavior. Bad parents are responsible for the offspring's they generate. Society should make parents more accountable in regards to their children actions!!! We live in a fast past society where Mom and Dad need to work their butts off to make ends meat. End results, kids do what the hell they want. When the parents get home, they feel so guilty for being away all that time, they buy piece. You end up with a generation of spoiled kids, that get away with anything. Society needs to change the way we raise our children, and quick!!!
