Gears of War fans, get ready to start the hype train yet again: Gears of War 3 is official. Not officially announced (yet), but official nonetheless.
The news comes via the cover of Issue #238 of Electronic Gaming Monthly (shown here), the one which marks the return of the publication, set to arrive December 1. Though the only version of the cover -- published on EGM's Facebook and Twitter pages -- is small in size, zooming in on it does clearly show "Gears of War 3" as one of the items covered inside.
That and if you missed it, founder Steve Harris dropped what could be taken as a hint in an interview last month; asked about his favourite game this console generation, he responded with this:
"Hard to name a favorite. Recent releases I enjoyed include Prototype and I like the Call of Duty series. Street Fighter 4 as well. I also enjoy Halo and am looking forward to anything related to Gears of War."
Back in July, the series' developer Epic wasn't keen to divulge on any possibilities of a third game, noting they were concentrated on the DLC for Gears 2. Cat's out of the bag now!
Update: Back in December this title was rumoured, with claims it could be expected for Q4 2010, coupled with the return of Marcus Fenix and 5-player co-op. Whatever the case, we can expect official details to start coming shortly.
