Madden NFL Arcade set for LIVE & PSN this holiday season
EA mixes up styles with $15 title
Football fans of all sorts should be interested to know EA Tiburon (NCAA Football 10) are working on an arcade-style Madden game, soon to be released on Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Store.
Titled Madden NFL Arcade and priced at $15, it's said to be heaps of fun "for both casual and diehard NFL fans." Though not going quite as far as the excellent NFL Blitz series (no flaming linebackers in this game), the mechanics are simplified to accommodate quick action between five-man teams, giving you four downs to "march 60 yards to pay dirt", with no penalties of field goals allowed -- first to 30 wins.
The game will offer up a sizeable amount of changeable options, though, including skill level, points to win, and 13 "Game Changers" which speed up the action even more. Gamers can also add linemen to get the sack, freeze an opposing player, or turn off the opponent's passing icons, plus many other yet-unnamed abilities.
Features include four player co-op, online play, interactive leaderboards, and achievements/trophies.
The player designs look a little...off to us, but nevertheless, this one should be a good bit of fun. Madden NFL Arcade launches this December.
