Hoard gas cans...or be the horde

Scavenge Mode announced for Left 4 Dead 2 Image 1

Left 4 Dead 2, it's been announced, will feature a brand new Survivors vs. Infected mode called Scavenge where the four human Survivors must seek out gas cans and refuel a generator before time runs out; the Special Infected will hinder progress by directly harming the Survivors, destroying gas cans to prevent time extensions, or simply letting the clock run out.  At the end of the match, players switch sides and the round begins anew.

Survivors will have an expanded arsenal that includes incendiary and explosive rounds and brand-new melee weapons such as baseball bats, frying pans, and chainsaws.  Players on the Infected side can use the old standbys (Tank, Boomer, Smoker, Hunter) and the three new Special Infected: Spitters (who spew a corrosive bile that is harmful to the touch), Chargers (a quick-moving Infected with an oversized arm to throw Survivors around or pulverize them against the ground), and Jockeys (acting as the proverbial monkey-on-your-back, they will latch onto a Survivor and lead them to traps or groups of Infected).

The game will also feature an updated AI Director that change weather effects, objects, and pathways to further randomize each and every session through the game's maps.

Left 4 Dead 2 ships November 17th for the Xbox 360 and PC.

It'll be $60. and this mode sounds pretty fun if you have friends with ya and not random dicks who don't know what they're doing

    Spark,

    Um, no it won't: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/100/1002529p1.html

Also, why is valve not talking about ANYTHING else but L4D for the passed 3 years?

It didn't say it was going to be less than $60. It probably wont be worth the full $60 because it is not that much of an upgrade, but that wont stop them. I'll still buy it. And yeah, valve needs to focus on like.. Halflife 3? That game was awsome(HL2)

It's going to be 60 dollars... And your reference didn't inform any price.

I think my reference makes it pretty obvious that the product is not worth $60.

After looking at the marginal additions I don't think there's anybody that can think it's worth full price.

L4D was very incomplete, L4D2 is basically what it should have been but it still lacks a lot of what this type of game needs.

If you buy it for $60 you're sending a message to developers that they can settle for mediocrity.

Not a wise consumer but whatever floats your boat.

ODST was only 6 hrs short and it was $60, and it only had two new weps I believe. Multi player horde mode aswell, but not a lot extra from H3

If everyone is upset about how much L4D2 is going to cost just dont buy it right away. I still play L4D and im going to keep playing it. Im going to wait a while and buy it used. And Scavenge mode looks really cool.

It seems as long as the game has halo in it's title, no matter how crappy or expensive it turns out to be the zombie fanboys(pun intended) will go out to buy it.

the halo phenomenon is the worst thing to happen this last decade.

The game is a YMMV title, for me I'm done with L4D and many of my friends are, we've invested a few hundred hours in all the gameplay modes and it's time for a new refresh.

Am I pissed about paying $50 for another experience like that? no. On the other hand I've played it at E3 and Comic-Con and know that they've been reworking the mechanics of the game. I have Crysis and Crysis Warhead here and I've invested maybe 20-25hrs peak into both for the same price because the replay value wasn't there.

I'm sure there's the whole "omgmakeitdlcplz" crowd still running around but I don't get it at all. People are more than willing to pay for one shot games with no replay value but the minute they have a sequel to a game they invested time in they're all up in arms.

When I first heard "Scavenge Mode" I got all worked up because it very well could have been my dream mode. Basically, the survivors run around during "day" hours to collect weapons, rebuild a barricade etc, then during "night" hours they have to use those weapons and barricades to fight the zombie horde. Instead I got some bloody CTF mode.

I personally was hoping for 4vs4 survior battles where the infected are AI controlled and the two teams of 4 survivors would have to compete for gernades, weapons, ammo, and such. It could either be whom ever kills the most infected would win, or which ever team is standing last wins.
