Well I really haven't read up on this so I'm not really the person to ask. But based on this, I can see where he's coming from. If I made something then had to have a middle man distrubet it for me, but he made more money for it than I did, then I'd be pretty upset. Besides the more money that a publisher gets means the more money they can put into their games.

I read the article in the magazine, though not thoroughly.

Yeah, Steam WOULD be biased, considering the source...

GfWL would be the way to go, but MS is pretty much ignoring that thing >_

Actually they're pumping it up a lot and charging developers to issue patches over the system. You might wanna read up on Microsoft's latest exploits as well. We had a news piece on it a few weeks ago.

I personally use DD services to get most of games these days. I just find it way more convenient. But that being said I think there is a significant danger of monopoly happening with Steam. Or even if there is just 2-3 major game digital game distributors, it will lead to possible price fixing, certainly higher costs for games, and less customer service.

With stores, there is so much competition that the different businesses really have to compete to attract business. If we get into the situation where there is only 1,2, or 3 companies selling most of the games, it'll be bad for everyone involved.

This is just stupid. It's also hard to fix because the only option really is to use a different distributer wich alows them to do the same thing. The only way to get over this problem would be for publishers to come up with a way to get around it without trying to directly sell the games themselves. If they start to do that then the costumer will be screwed as much as the publishers are now.
