Details on Titus and Interplay

Titus Interactive extends in stake in Interplay

John over at Eurogamer has provided us with additional details of the Titus takeover at Interplay you may have heard about earlier this week. Titus Interactive, its head office based in France, has announced yesterday that it has taken control of the financially-troubled American publisher Interplay. Here's more from Eurogamer:

"Today it announced that it had extended that stake to 51% earlier this week by turning some of its convertible bonds into actual shares in the company.

A statement from the French company said that "this purchase raises Titus Interactive's voting rights and will enable, during the Annual General Meeting in September, a re-election of the board and a takeover of Interplay by Titus Interactive"... Interplay now joins Hasbro Interactive, Mattel Interactive, GT Interactive, Sierra, Interactive Magic, Accolade and a host of other American publishers to have been taken over by the French.
"

I took out the part about the diabolical laughter though.
