What's that saying about cheaters never prospering? In the case of Shadow Complex, it rings true.
Microsoft and Chair Entertainment are cracking down on players who are cheating their way up the Shadow Complex leaderboards, as warned Major Nelson via blog. No one's getting banned, of course, but the Xbox LIVE team is taking measures against cheaters who get caught.
Two of these penalties apply to LIVE cheaters in general; any LIVE user caught cheating gets his (or her) Gamerscore reset and is branded a cheater for the entire XBL community to see. Additionally, said individual can no longer earn Achievements in previously played games.
Looks like Shadow Complex cheaters also get booted off the leaderboards:
- The player will be deleted from the Shadow Complex leaderboard
- The Xbox LIVE enforcement team will investigate individual players removed from the leaderboards for potential resetting of the user’s gamerscore. The reset would include all games, not just Shadow Complex.
- Those accounts determined by the Xbox enforcement team to have their gamerscore reset will be branded on Xbox LIVE as belonging to a cheater, and this information will be reflected in the gamer profile, both on Xbox.com and in the Xbox Dashboard on the console.
Good riddance. How do you even cheat at a game like Shadow Complex? Nevermind, I don't want to know.
