Skate fans should be happy to know Black Box is now officially developing its third game in the series for Xbox 360 and PS3 which will bring in the social aspect of skateboarding, allowing you to build a skate crew and compete with rivalries.
Adding to the goodness will be co-op play, wherein your team can compete offline or online in modes like the "beefed up" Hall of Meat (which rewards you for "epic bails and fails") and the new "skate.School" (which rewards you for advancing in skill). Port Carverton will be the new setting of choice in Skate 3, described as a "skater's paradise."
"The social and community aspects of the SKATE franchise are something we've always embraced, but we've never done anything to the scale you're going to see in SKATE 3," said Senior Producer, Jason DeLong. "We're giving gamers a very unique experience by providing them with the tools they need to build their ultimate team or to create a team comprised entirely of their online friends. From there, it's all about proving yourself - teaming up, and throwing down."
As for fans of the previous game's "skate.Create" feature suite, this will be expanded, so you can look forward to lots of community-made content (read: replay value).
The game's publisher Electronic Arts would like you to know the game is already available for pre-order on the official site and participating retailers; putting your money down early will net you an unlock code for exclusive access to the Black Box Distribution Skate Park, the home of the "Zero, Mystery and Fallen" skate teams.
