Coming Q1 with lots of goodies

Releasing its latest installment in the acclaimed Battlefield series in July on PS3 and Xbox 360, DICE made it known the PC version of 1943 would take a bit longer, eventually finding its way to gamers this September.
As it often goes, particularly with PC releases, the game will see another release gap, now set for a Q1 2010 release window. The benefit, as usual, is an improved feature set.
"We haven't released a Frostbite [engine]-built game on PC, so going into this project we lacked a starting foundation we had on console," states producer Gordon Van Dyke. "There are also many different and unique challenges to the PC that lead to us pushing the release even further to Q1 2010."
Van Dyke isn't without compassion, but is confident it's been the best decision to make overall:
"This was a hard pill to swallow, but it was absolutely needed to ensure the features and functionality that PC Players have come to expect from Battlefield on PC are not missing," he said, highlighting DirectX 9/10 support, a higher player count (32), wider peripheral support, voice support and ranked server provider hosting as what to expect. "So it was and still is the absolutely right decision, for quality sake, to not release until it is ready."
