Microsoft's massively multiplayer role-playing game Asheron's Call will be in beta till Sunday October 24th (PDT). In these final days of testing, everyone is encouraged to download the beta before we see it on the shelves in November.
"To herald the end of the Asheron's Call beta, which takes place at the stroke of midnight this Sunday, October 24 (PDT), Microsoft and Turbine Entertainment announced that adventurers in the land of Dereth are currently in the midst of several apocalyptic events. In-game sages have confirmed rumors that these occurrences are simply the harbingers of even more unexpected, world-shaking events to hit the citizens of Dereth in the coming days.
It has been reported that earlier in the week an enormous comet appeared in the sky, seemingly on a collision course with Dereth. Then, yesterday, disaster struck! The town of Shoushi was totally devastated, leaving only a smoldering crater bubbling with magma. In the neighboring towns of Qalaba'r and Yaraq, trees and buildings were said to be mysteriously ablaze. Later in the day, town criers announced that strange flaming apparitions and magma golems had invaded the Direlands, a remote section of the isle. Reports from Dereth have become more frantic, as these strange and dangerous creatures are now just outside many heavily populated towns.
The open trial for Asheron's Call is available for download from http://www.microsoft.com/games/zone/asheronscall/. However, time is running out. All gamers are encouraged to participate in the beta's final days, and explore the 500-square-mile isle of Dereth before Asheron's Call is commercially available in early November."
