HD 4670 card added to series
Today's videocards can be an extreme source of wasted energy when they're not busy processing power-intensive tasks like gaming. The cards continue to use high amounts of power even in simple 2D apps like word processing, checking e-mail and browsing the Internet. PowerColor has a new series of environmentally friendly and power efficient products aptly named Go! Green. Originally consisting of just the HD 4650/4350 models, The series has been expanded to include a HD 4670 model as well.
According to PowerColor, the Go! Green series of cards consume up to 38% less power than their counterparts while outperforming standard cards in their class by up to 36% in benchmark tests. An added bonus is their silent operation thanks to large passive heatsinks utilized across the product line.
Each card is also compatible with compatible with DirectX 10.1 and ATI Stream Technology which enable the cards to work with the CPU to accelerate applications beyond just graphics such as converting standard and HD video into multiple formats by parallel processing. You should begin to see the Go! Green cards at your favorite outlets this month although PowerColor did no disclose pricing.
