Fans of Tripwire Interactive's zombie shooter gone part-RPG Killing Floor (KF) should be delighted to know the first of many free content packs will be coming soon to the game, which the studio has detailed today. A new level, weapons, and functionality are contained in the new pack, so let's get started.
The new level is known as "Foundry"; set in an old iron works the Horzine Corporation converted for their top secret military projects, your role here is to enter with your squad and clean out the infestation there before an investigation is launched.
Rather exciting in itself, but wait til you hear about the weapons. First up is the classic AK-47, the KF version of which has the folding stock for optimal close quarter combat, also coming in as a heavyweight for the Commando Perk. Additionally, it boasts more stopping power over the base Bullpup.
Even better though, is another favourite, the Japanese Katana sword. Tripwire writes, "[This] is a weapon that just about every special-forces soldier in every movie seems to know intimately, for no good reason other than personal interest. Just where the squad got hold of it is a mystery, but this piece of Samurai history is just so fitting, such a thing of beauty and such a perfect melee weapon, that we aren’t going to ask too many questions."
Aside from the free content, the developer will be releasing a paid DLC character pack for the game soon, adding four new playable characters including a Horzine foundry worker and Horizine solider in prototype armor. For all the debate over DLC, perhaps Tripwire's method is best, no?
Killing Floor is available now on Steam for $20, and will soon be available at retail across various parts of this fine planet of ours.
