Perhaps they should have just said the did this to cut back on piracy, which is a valid enough reason. Because it doesn't seem a valid reason to force someone who wants to play SP to go online in order to track stats. What, they couldn't write the player progression data to a local hard drive? That doesn't exactly make sense.

Yeah, at least Blizzard will come out and say it (even if they do bury it underneath a bunch of PR speak).

This is a completely wild idea, but I think it work well if they made the SP portion of the game free, and charged for the MP. Most of the fun to be had in C+C is in the MP anyways. I think it would work well for them... it would introduce the game to people who otherwise would have not played it... no way they'd do it though I guess...

That's a cool idea. I'd definitely try it, then. I mean, I'm going to give Battleforge -- also published by EA -- a shot sometime for a similar reason...

I guess it won't be that bad in practice. I always play my Xbox 360 games while signed into Xbox Live and it's actually nice to have friend notifications, invites, download history and all of your content licenses. I'm assuming EA will try to the do the same for Command & Conquer 4 so this internet requirement isn't branded as a frustrating anti-piracy tactic.

Compulsory online connection for Single-player mode is detrimental to potential buyers who do not have fast internet connections or who just simply like to play solo for sometimes.

Furthermore, players should have choices in any game and that's why they pay the games for to enjoy from any perspective such as solo or multi-player options. The weird ideas of Command & Conquer 4 developers will be tantamount to lower sales of the game when it's launched, I suppose.

Xenctuary-=> But the big thing is "friend notifications, invites, download history and all of your content licenses" is more MP related, not so much SP related.

Most of us have a hispeed connection that is always on

But there have been times when I lose connection or due to technical difficulty I lose internet for a day or 2

So you expect me to pay for a game I can only play if I have an internet connection I don’t think so

But that’s my 2 cents specially since the only console I now that can be hacked is the 360 but you can’t even connect it to the network because patches will undo the hack

So I would understand that the pc version had to be online all the time but not consoles

And as evrybody now 1 week after it is released hackers will have a patch that will block that and let you play offline single player

So yet again people who pay for games get the short end of it we have to go thru all this bull crap will people who hack get free game and not have to deal whit all this

Ok im done im getting of my soap box

    ^ C&C 4 is PC-exclusive. I don't think a double standard is wise.

They could not make a more stupid decision.

Just let me play regardless whether I have internet or not, it's stupid there is no point for internet in singleplayer.
