Telltale Games and LucasArts have been building a lot of hype over the past few days for the Tales of Monkey Island series premiere. Today, the series debuts with its first chapter, "Launch of the Screaming Narwhal."
Over the next five months, other chapters will be released to complete this classic saga. A playable demo is currently posted on the official website, in case you'd like to give the new Monkey Island a shot.
Dave Grossman, Telltale design director and writer for the original Monkey Island is definitely pleased:
"I was laughing my eyepatch off on a daily basis while we were first cooking up Monkey Island at Skywalker Ranch, but if you'd told me then that it would become a classic, and that twenty years later I'd be working with a killer all-star piratey crew to spin an epic new tale and bring the series to a whole new generation of players, I would have said -- well, probably, 'Look behind you, a three-headed monkey,' but then I've always been a bit weird that way."
The first chapter is only available for PC at the moment, though a WiiWare version is expected in the coming weeks. All five episodes can already be purchased via the Telltale Games online store for $34.95 USD.
