Team wanted something a little different, says producer
Creator of the latest generation Ninja Gaiden titles Tomonobu Itagaki, though bitter about the first Ninja Gaiden Sigma, in a recent interview seemed in good spirits about the upcoming Sigma 2, stating, "I believe I created a certain era in Tecmo's history, and I hold pride in that fact. So, if I were to speak negatively of Tecmo, it would be the same as me disrespecting myself. They should strive to do their best, that's all."
It may be a bit of a slap in the face, then, to know the team will be toning down the violence as well as the difficulty in the PS3 version. NowGamer writes the violence will brought down from "11 to 1", while GameSpot UK says it will "still contain blood, limb dismemberment, and decapitations."
“When we developed Ninja Gaiden 2 we put the emphasis on violence," noted producer Yosuke Hayashi, "but since last year the number of games featuring high levels of violence increased, so rather than do something everyone else was doing, we’ve tried to take a different approach and focus on the cool aspects in this game.”
Of course, the game will still feature gigantic breasts and bondage gear:
Other changes include co-op play (separate to the main game), online score boards, playable characters Rachel, Momiji (Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword) and Ayane (Dead or Alive), improved camera and a more forgiving save point system. On a sidenote, it's stated if Momiji proves popular, she could appear in the next Dead or Alive title.
Sigma 2 will launch this autumn; a demo will be available come September.

And toning down the violence form 11 to 1?
Ridiculous.
Ninja Gaiden: Sigma's difficulty is annoying for some entry-level PS3 gamers, but it's OK for me.
Overall, in terms of maximum hard level setting, I found out personally that Heavenly Sword is a bit more difficult than Ninja Gaiden: Sigma, isn't it?
Lowering violence in a Ninja Gaiden game is just fail, it's one of the draws of the series....
